On Thursday, 13 November, a GMVO exercise (Large-Scale Multidisciplinary Field Exercise) will take place at Lelystad Airport. During this exercise, various emergency services and partners will train together to ensure they are well prepared for potential incidents at the airport.<\/p>\n
Due to this exercise, the airport will be closed for air traffic from 17:00 onwards on that day.<\/p>\n

As of Thursday, 26 January 2023 , the Northern Area will be put into operation.<\/p>\n
Infrastructure involved<\/strong><\/p>\n The Northern Area (NA) refers to the infrastructure to the northwest of the runway. Specifically, the following sections will be put into operational use:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Use<\/strong><\/p>\n The Northern Area is primarily used for larger visiting business aviation aircraft (spans between 24 and 36 meters). Four aircraft stands are available for parking such aircraft: L5 through L8. In addition, the Northern Area can be used for long-term parking (several days) of smaller visiting aircraft. Arrangements for this can be made in advance with the Operations Department (OD). Aircraft with said larger wingspan (24-36m) from LA-based companies will continue to be handled on the Southern Area (ZA).<\/p>\n Operational consequences<\/strong><\/p>\n General<\/u><\/p>\n The main operational consequence of putting the Northern Area into operation will be that pilots will observe ground traffic on the northern taxiways and the northern Apron L. Also, as of 26 January, the runway can be entered and exited from both sides: entry can be via N1 or N2 for takeoff direction 23 and via N4 or N3 for takeoff direction 05. Air traffic from the current (Southern) area \u2013 which normally uses intersections S1 and S5 at takeoff \u2013 can therefore also expect departing traffic from the physical start of the runway. Landing traffic should take into account that air traffic with destination Northern Area will exit the runway via N2 (in case of a landing on runway 05) or N3 (in case of a landing on runway 23).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Use of FATO\/HELEX<\/span><\/p>\n FATO\/HELEX operators have since been informed separately by LA and LVNL about the Northern Area being put into operation as of 26 January. Specifically, the local rule is that if air traffic has to taxi on runway N between N3 and A2, helicopters must be grounded in the FATO or HELEX or insert into the training circuit.<\/p>\n Communications<\/strong><\/p>\n The decision to put the Northern Area into operation has been incorporated into the AIP per effective date 26 January 2023. Met deze mail willen we u informeren over de operationele consequenties hiervan.<\/p> Betrokken infrastructuur<\/strong><\/p> Onder het Noordelijk Areaal (NA) wordt verstaan de infrastructuur ten noordwesten van de start-\/landingsbaan. Specifiek worden de volgende delen operationeel in gebruik genomen:<\/p> De FATO en de HELEX zijn eveneens op het Noordelijk Areaal gelegen. Deze 2 helikoptergebieden waren al operationeel in gebruik sinds 7 november 2019.<\/p> Gebruik<\/strong><\/p> Het Noordelijk Areaal wordt primair gebruikt voor grotere bezoekende business aviation-vliegtuigen (spanwijdtes tussen de 24 en 36 meter). Voor het parkeren van dergelijke toestellen zijn vier vliegtuigopstelplaatsen beschikbaar: L5 t\/m L8. Daarnaast kan het Noordelijk Areaal worden gebruikt voor langetermijnstalling (meerdere dagen) van kleinere bezoekende toestellen. Hierover kunnen vooraf afspraken worden gemaakt met de Operationele Dienst (OD). Vliegtuigen met genoemde grotere spanwijdte (24-36m) van op LA gevestigde bedrijven blijven op het Zuidelijk Areaal (ZA) afgehandeld worden.<\/p> Operationele consequenties<\/strong><\/p> Algemeen<\/span><\/p> De belangrijkste operationele consequentie van de ingebruikname van het Noordelijk Areaal zal zijn dat vliegers grondverkeer zullen waarnemen op de noordelijke rijbanen en het noordelijke Apron L. Ook kan de baan vanaf 26 januari vanaf beide kanten opgereden en verlaten worden: het oprijden kan via N1 of N2 voor de startrichting 23 en via N4 of N3 voor de startrichting 05. Vliegverkeer vanaf het huidige (Zuidelijke) areaal - dat bij take-off normaal gesproken gebruik maakt van de intersecties S1 en S5 - kan dus ook vertrekkend verkeer verwachten vanaf het fysieke begin van de startbaan. Landend verkeer moet er rekening mee houden dat vliegverkeer met bestemming Noordelijk Areaal de baan zal verlaten via N2 (i.g.v. een landing op baan 05) of N3 (i.g.v. een landing op baan 23).<\/p> Gebruik FATO\/HELEX<\/span><\/p> FATO\/HELEX operators zijn inmiddels door LA en de LVNL apart ge\u00efnformeerd over de ingebruikname van het Noordelijk Areaal per 26 januari. Concreet geldt plaatselijk: Indien er vliegverkeer op rijbaan N moet taxi\u00ebn tussen N3 en A2, moeten helikopters in de FATO of HELEX aan de grond worden geparkeerd of invoegen in het trainingscircuit.<\/p> Communicatie<\/strong><\/p> De ingebruikname van het Noordelijk Areaal is in het AIP verwerkt per effective date 26 JAN 2023.
